Feeding a crowd is easier than it sounds. Indian food is made for sharing, and a few well-chosen trays can cover a birthday, a puja, a satsang, an office lunch or a game-day spread. Here's how to plan it.

Start with a mix

A good spread usually has four parts:

  1. Something to snack on: mini samosas, paneer pakora, aloo pakora or idli.
  2. Something fresh and tangy: sev puri, dahi bhalla or a salad tray.
  3. Something filling: aloo bhaji, paneer tikka, rice, parathas, puri or roti.
  4. Something for the kids: fries, potato wedges or onion rings.

How much to order

A rough rule for a meal (not just snacks): plan on 3 to 4 snack pieces per person, plus one bread (paratha, puri or roti) or a scoop of rice per person, plus a main like aloo bhaji or paneer tikka. If it's an appetizer-only event, double the snacks. When in doubt, call us at (410) 381-0011 and tell us your headcount.

What travels best

  • Travels great: idli, mini samosas, pakoras, parathas, rice, aloo bhaji, paneer tikka.
  • Assemble on site: sev puri and other chaat are best when the crunchy parts stay crunchy. Eat them soon after pickup.
